Anyone with a Weber TLP on a 1.5l engine..
How may turns in or out are your idle speed screw and your CO/mixture screw?
And last question, what is your ignition timing set to?
hopefully this will get me up and running..

I was asking about jet sizes and carb setup to get it to run for long enough that I can tweak the mixture..

If a replacement, Have you cleaned the carb, applied grease to springs, external moving parts etc?
have you inspected the carb mount?
What about the dizzy? yours wil have manual points which in my opinon are an ass, of which there is a kit roughly £25 you can change it to electronic ignition, even a novice can do it.
Why are you wanting to messing with jets?
They are easy to remove and only go back in without you putting them in an incorrect position.
Throw pics of the carb from above, front and side angles please.
Timing to be set at 7 BTDC if a JB block.

It's a brand new carb in a box from FastRoadCars..
Car has new plugs, leads, cap, arm, coil and TCI unit
I'm pretty sure it uses electronic ignition, it has the 7 pin TCI unit which I beleive is wired to the coil and the hall sender on the dizzy?
I thought I'd need to change the jets because it seems like fuel starvation, only runs for a few seconds then cuts out so I thought a bigger idle jet would fix it?
Can't get a pic right now because it's pouring down but I'll try and get one today/tonight if the weather lets up..
I'll go for 7degrees when I get it up and running but can't really time it until then..

Sounds more like rust issue, filler neck, tank, crap in lines etc, vapor separator on front of rocker cover needs cleaning out of replaced.
Remove the fuel sender form underneath the rear bench and see if the small filter is blocked.

The Weber kit came with a T-piece for the fuel line with the restricted part going to the return and the 2 non-restricted parts in a straight line from each other between the pump and the carb, the instructions said to fit the T-piece and get rid of the vapour seperator so that's not in use any more..
Wish me luck!

The in-line fuel filter stops some crap getting to the carb, but not all and having the separator is extra protection.
Get the separator, turn upside down and tap and i am sure little particals of rust will come out.
You would be best just buying a new one, either same plastic black one or the later metal version on mk1 cabs and mk2 golfs.
I have pm'd you bud
