Accelerator Pedal problems

Hi all,

My 1991 Golf Clipper Auto decided it had had enough last night, the accelerator pedal went all floppy!  The recovery chap thought that the cable had snapped but having had a good look this morning the cables all appear to be functioning (both of them). The pedal is just completely loose on its spindle, and I cant see how it is supposed to be. Are they prone to breaking, or do they somehow clip together? any help much appreciated.

Thanks
Paul

Thanks for the reply, but the cable is still attached to the top of the pedal, if you pull the pedal top the cable operates OK. It seems to be lower down on the pedal, any ideas?

Thanks

I had this on my auto, it was where it was welded to the bulkead, looked ok, but was wobbly, turned out the weld on one side had failed and was only just holding on, I'd suggest you get that checked and rewelded before it snaps fully…

Hi, not a bulkhead weld but a weld on the pedal shaft!

is there suppost to be a clip that holds the cable in place?? i had that happen to me on my way to brid, just got into sewerby an pedal on the floor. i thort the cable had snaped. not a nice feeling at all. its happened a few times since so for now ive pushed the rod through the bush and bodged a split pin to keep it in place. so i need a new rubber and a clip i think. are they still available from the dealer??
