a tapping noise when driving

hi again
just as i sort one problem out (with the help of this website) i get another.
i have an 89 clipper 1.8 auto had lots of fuel problems so in the end the only thing left to change was the carb so i got a webber, its super the only problem now is when the car goes over 2000 revs i here like a tapping noise  if was a ford i would said the tappets needed ajusting but they do it all the time and this only does it after it goes past 2000 revs. any idea's?

Does it do it under load or all the time when the revs are above 2k?

Could possibly be a blow on the exhaust manifold??

hi again its only makes noise when its over 2000 revs but it doesn't sound good
