A Few Engine Related Queries for a 1.8 Carbruettor Auto

Evening All

I have a few queries if you could help.

1. When auto choke is on after turned on from cold, its idles at 1200rpm, is this correct ?
2. When engine is hot and gear selector in Park mode, idles at 750rpm, but when in Neutral, idles at 1200rpm, is this correct ?
3. When engine is hot and gear selector is placed into park and I switch off the engine, the engine feels like its over fueling and is hunting at low revs, before it stops. Any idea's?
4. Cambelt and kit along with Aux Belt, was changed at 51,000 miles in 1999. What cycle in years / mileage should these be changed ? I know its very overdue ! Currently 101,000 miles
5. I am aware that I have the stock carbruettor, but can you exchange for a better unit or do you normally replace with new / recon alternative unit ?

I look forward to your replies. Cheers

Cam Belt Kit / Aux Belt and water pump now changed.

My running issues have been resolved as have the carbruettors problems. Mechanic informed me the ignition timing was way out. Suprised that the removed cam belt I saw had not snapped ages ago, it was awlful, not many teeth on it, how it was gripping the sprocket I will never know.

Running engine feels and drives very sweet now.

Cambelt in history paperwork was last changed in 1998 at 50,000 miles at VW.

Mechanic has suggested every 5 years or 60,000 miles which ever comes first for next change.

I have the funny carbruettor, the 2E Automatic transmission version with the Vaccum Chamber mounted to the collision bulkhead. Have been told not many of these around, whether thats true, I do not know.

vac chamber is on bulkhead on all 2e2 carbs, 2e just refers to the base code of the carby. have a look in the thread see if it looks the same?

there is a rare +CAT conversion version of the 2e2 which has lots of electronic parts, these are rare here.
