88 cab with a common issue, looking for a solution
My 88 cab has just returned from so called VW specialist. I have had an on going issue with stuttering ,kangerooing ,stalling. It only did it at 3000 revs at 70mph at first and then began to be less fussy. Before it went in to the garage it was only driving about 200 yards before it started. I have replaced the fuel neck, coil, ignition pack, plugs, leads and the mechanic has just replaced the swirl pot? and changed all of the gaskets on the carb. He delivered it back to me this week and it started all over again, stuttering, kangerooing and stalling. The mechanic took it back and said it drove fine. I am picking it up tomorrow not at all confident it will be cured. Any clues guys 'cause at the moment the only thing I want to do with it is take it to the breakers….. Also if anyone knows of a good mechanic in the Southampton area who would be prepared to sort it that would be good. I am no mechanic but am prepared to try most things myself..
