1990 MK1 Cab engine oil advice

Hi, Just new to the site and just purchased a MK1 Clipper Cab 1990 model. Can anyone tell me the best engine oil to use  putting it in for a full service ext week and I want to put decent quality oil in but should it be semi synthethetic or fully etc any specific brand or advice would be helpful. I have used Quantum Synta 10W40 - same grade VW501 01 used by modern VW engines sold by VW and can get it here at a trade price of €12.50 for 5L. Cheap service twice a year…
