1600 carb engines

Just a quick question for those in the know!! :wink:
 

Which models of tintop golfs used a carb 1600 engine?- I'm especially interested in the '70s models 8)

wasn't the golf  originally launched with a 1471 audi derived unit- later enlarged to 1588cc and injected (for the gti) while the 1471cc engine was replaced by the 1457 lump in 1977 for the standard models….but where did the carb 1588cc  fit in?

Anyone ever heard of a Golf C Driver? I only remember seeing one about 11 years ago!!

I think the LS came with the 1588 carb engine in the 70's, think VW made them on and off.

There's no Golf C Driver, they are two different cars. The C was the base model and came with the 1.1 engine, the Driver was a low insurance GTI lookalike with 1.3 engine and steel wheels.
