1.8 Drivers side engine mount?

Does the 1.8 have a drivers side engine mount?

Anyone got a picture as I can't find one?

My m8 has a 1.8GTI engine to go in his small blcok shell. But I can't see how the drivers side mounts?

he'l also have to change the g'box, all the gear linkage mech' , steering rack, and brakes would be v. advisable.

Yeah read that,

previously we had thought that it was the passenger side mount that needed moving, so I was a little confused.

It also did not make it clear that the other 3 mounts are different althought the bodywork brakets are ok.

So we are on the hunt for 4 MK1 Big block GTI mounts ( would 1986 Caddy Diesel ones fit?

yeah im pretty sure that they would do as all big blocks mount the same, but id ask some one else to make sure! im actauly in the process of putting a 1.8 16v into my 1.3 at the moment too. so keep us posted if you find out anything handy!

turbo, caddy ones would do the job mate, and gx, gl, gti. if you look on your car on driver side mount, a little further back there is a 'face', thats where the beggar wants to go.  as matt says change the gearbox mount too, couple of bolts thats all.  one of the members from here as a cracking 16v conversion guide with loads of handy tips and info, cant rememeber who tho :dontknow:
