Does it actually boil up and loose water?

Don't remove the cap, it increases the pressure and raises the boiling point. Anti-freeze also raises the boiling point, this there plenty of fresh AF in there?

Does the rad fan come on OK?

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

yeh it boils up and comes out of header tank. its not got anti freezein at the mo as i had to drain it to take water pump off and on and just put fresh water in to test it

no non attall nuthin that says head gasket, it doesnt smoke or no water in the oil. i adjusted the ignition timing and mixture as i think it was running lean and hot, i also put the fan on so it comes on with the ignition ans seems ok to now, just have to see how it goes

if the dizzy had moved round causing the timing to advance and run rough this would make if over heat it would alos make the manifold glow red but i think youd notice the dizzy move as it would run like a sack off spuds

check your thermostat to make sure its opening.

might also be worth stripping your water pump to make sure the impellor inside has not detached or broke..

i had the same problem with mine..

turned out to be my thermostat stuck shut so the water was building up under pressure and coming back out the expansion bottle.

i stuck a new rad on as well when i done it cus mine was a bit out of date.
stuck a 21 inch on instead of the smaller 17 inch and it dont over heat one bit!!

Hey, i had exactly the same thing happen, i put a new thermostat on but no luck, i was dreading that it was the head gasket but then found out that the cap on the water reserve tank was leaking. Changed it and hey presto :D. Good Luck

i had this problem, so took a guess and changed the thermostat and works fine now, the old one actually looked fine when i took it out. So for the sake of ?10 or so might aswell change it for piece of mind if you aint already
