1.6 points and condenser issue advice

Sorry if this subject has been done before but i would love some advice on the problems Ive been having. The sypmtoms are poor running the vacuum advance seems to be iratic and the points seem to spark eroded (arcing) so i have strobe set the timming changed points condenser rotor arm cap just part of a service  replaced the coil. i have gotten to the point that i now want to replace the distributor itself but can find a new replacment and wondered if the hall sensor style distrib will swop directly ??? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you definitely got the right coil? From memory it should measure 1.7 - 2.1 ohms across the primary, if this is not right it will upset everything. The condensor prevents arcing so its worth replacing that if you haven't done so already.

And if you have a capacitence meter….

Condensor will read 220uF consistantly if its working, however leave it on the meter for a while as it may start to drop,or increase can't remember which :) If it does that its faulty.
