1.6 Carb - Pics inside

Hello to all, I've got some doubts. Hope you guys can help! This pump (I guess it's a pump) is making a strange noise, like if a bearing is damaged or something. Is it "normal"? What is this for?


In the water container for the window washers my cabby has 2 pumps. The one for the window washers and this big one! It has that brown hose connected but that hose is closed in the other end. Was is this pump for?


Last but not least! What is the function of this "sensor"?

1. thats the autochoke, it has coolant runnign thru it but no pump of any kind so the noise must be coming from something else

2. headlight washers

3. thermoswitch of some kind, probably for the autochoke

I managed to find where is the noise! Its from the "yellow circle" part!



Do you know what it is?

thats the pull down unit, it sounds liek it is leaking vacuum? check the hoses are ok and the nipples are both ok

When the engine is hot, this piece makes a sound like a horn!  

nice! suggests its broken, maybe there is a diaphragm inside that has split

I will see that this weekend! Is it easy to find those pieces online? Ebay maybe?

not sure back when i had a 1.6 the scrappies were full of carbed mk2s i could steal parts from! these days you might struggle but you never know gsf may sell them still
