1.6 carb engine cut out

Just need abit of advice,
got a mk1 passat 1.6 same engine as mk1's and mk2's,

When runnin at a decent speed (40 ish) come to stop at traffic lights engine cuts out just as i get down to around 10mph, Starts up fine again and idles fine after start up. just odd that it cuts out whilst slowing down.

Any ideas??
