1.5GL new weber- fitting airbox?
After much effort and going through several time served mechanics I have given up on my knackered Pierberg 1b3 ( autochoke ) and fitted a manual weber 36TLP- the difference is impressive and am chuffed.
However, we have come to fit the square airbox back on and noticed that back clip that folds over the back of the airbox has nowhere to clip onto the weber carb.
Any ideas on how to fit the airbox on securely. Currently have the clip wedged under the carb body.
cheers- Mark.

If yes do me a favour, remove it and take a pic of the inner lip, the actual part that sits flush with the top of carb, it just needs a little mod bud.
I did have pics when i did mine but lost em,like i say post a pic of the hole area at bottom and i will show you how to fella

Cheers dudes
your help is much appreciated- glad to see there are decent folk on here willing to help…
I'm trying to keep it as original as possible so will be keeping the original metal square airbox- would have loved to have kept the Pierburg 1b3 going but was fighting a loosing battle.
I'll will have to retrieve the airbox attachment as the mechanic didn't give it back to me- he wasn't able to get it to fit. Will aim to get photo's by the weekend- want to get it done, just don't want the air box clip flying off to add to the problem
cheers Fellas- Mark

Seeing you can't get pics as yet of box don't worry.
Here's a pic of a 36tlp fella just fitted, can you see the part of bracket which has one of the bolts and arrowed.
All you need to do is get your airbox, look underneath and you will see the rim, there is a tiny lip that goes all way round, simply mark up the width of the part of bracket arrowed in pic on the airbox and slowly cut the lip to that size, the your airbox will fit snug bud.
What restricts the box is the bracket as it is wider than the rim of carb thus will not fit.
You only need to cut a piece of the lip for the front one in pic.
I will get a pic of my mates i did for him, so don't worry about any pics fella

I see the problem, now I have actually retrieved the bracket. Mine has two brackets that attach to the carb inner body so I will need to cut out the two notches as in the picture below-

Hey Novocaine, I'll be keeping the 1b3- have not given up all hope just yet- even the Weber is being a bit odd in the morning and not sure if it is just me not used to a manual choke or if there is something else like a tiny air leak on the manifold that closes as the engine warms- (?) Eventually I hope to put the car back to its original state,
cheers for both your help. Will keep you posted
