Twin 40's would be poor low-end, hard to setup, drink fuel in most situations you'd be using them for, and be expensive
I do have an entire spare engine atm, but I'll be reconning it at some point, theres plenty of full engines about though buddy.

Nothing really, since I bought it
Chrimbo
. It has a weber 36tlp with pan filter on it, which needed sorting out, got a dodgey wheel bearing and some right sided clunk which needs sorting. I'm hoping for warmer weather so I can get onto it
Nice car though, generally.

Not sure spending huge wedges of cash on a 1.5 motor would give any results.
Twin 40's will be a problem on any mk1 8v as VW put the inlet on wrong side of the engine.
The carbs end up too close to the fire wall so getting a good setup is hard as they have to be balanced and there isn't really enough space to get the syncrometre in.
Single 40 is a sweet conversion, only prob is manifolds are like hen's teeth.

Projekt Frustration :
White 1991 Clipper. Lowered over polished zender rims, Single 40 dellorto on lynx manifold, kent cam, full stainless 'zorst / manifold, powerflex bushed and braced. Not the fastest car, but sounds super nice!
Still going after 12 years… never said it was a quick fix! Time is not my friend.

any photos of this single 40 conversion.
i only want to do ss sytem as the "c" clips that hold my down pipe on are a pain in the ass to get on / off!! and hopefully get a bit better flow too??

The 1.5 engine is the only over-square ratio engine and therefore it is perfect for tuning

Regarding the exhaust pipe, the series one version has bolts, not C-Clips. should fit straight on.
