1.5 JB with a 1.6 head??

Hi Folks,

This may be a daft question…….. I have a GL with a 1.5JB engine but the head is stamped with 1.6.  Is this correct or has it been added at a later date?

My 81 gls is the same :-)

I have the same and so does someone else I know.

I think they are all stamped 1.6, although they are 1.5s!

Vw prob bored the 1.6s out a bit and left the 1.5 as they are!

Ha ha true this.at least we don't have "software" to worry about :-) 

And our road tax is cheaper!!
