'88 clipper cuts out when booting it.

When driving at speeds over 60mph it cuts out
 
If I wait 1 minute it restarts or pour petrol it the top of carb.

Car runs fine when driving like miss daisey.

Any ideas appreciated.

Car has had new dizzy cap, lht leads, fuel pump (on engine).

p.s The engine seemed to run ON for about 4 seconds once(after about a dozens runs) and its a peiburg carb

after trawling this great site I see a few posts about timing issues,

so i checked the dizzy and it turned easily,

would this cause my problems

That dizzy cap doesn't sound great. Get a new one on there, only a few quid from gsf. Cahnge the fuel filter aswell.

Cutting out would seem like a carb problem. Check that the float is ok, and there is no vacume leaks.

Ohter than that, change the ignition module?
