hey guys anybody know how long valve stem oil seals take on a 1.1 been told about a tool you can get to allow you to do them without removing the head anyone attemted it or rrecommend easiest way to do them?

You can supposedly use a compressed air connection into the spark plug hole to save having to remove the whole head, but I've never tried it myself.

I have also heard of a VW dealership tool which can compress the springs with the head still attached, but I haven't seen it…

anymore info on the rope trick? i know it involves putting a certain type of rope into he spark plug hole but didnt know if it was a good method!!!

I dont know the details, I've only heard about it though. It sounds a bit dodgy but then if it works…

to be honest taking the head off a small block isnt hard, and for the price of a head gasket and head bolts is it not worth doing anyway?
