Well, Well well... My project has arrived.

This shell is in top condition, inner wings, floor, roof all solid. It's a campaign according to it's vin and log book. No sun roof is a bonus too (no more wet neck). Think it would be a shame to make it anything other than back to original.  It's been a while since i've had a mk1 as i've been buggering about with Corrado's (never again). Best put you some piccies up, than it's off to buy a sh*t load of Emery.  8)


(needs weeding i think, best add strimmer to list of tools)  



not a lot of rot in here (bit round clutch cable hole, typical but an easy fix.)

Thats been left open to the elements like that has it? sooner you than me.

It's been under cover after someone has started doing the body. I've moved it to it's current place till i can get it on the ramp. There are bits of surface rust but hardly any rot.  I'm so tempted to drop a 2l 8v in it, but it's a campaign and deserves to be done right. i'll keep you posted. Thanks for the encouragement.   :wink:

looking forward to seeing this progress mate.

unfortunately i don't think this is a campaign - don't hold me to this - but i think all campaigns had a sliding sunroof.

do you have anymore pictures of the front chassis legs?

Saw this today and it's not as bad as it looks, very solid really, just the primer and surface rust making it look untidy.

I'm sure once its been flatted and painted in primer it will look a million times better.

See, I'm not mad (as i scrub old vw parts in kitchen sink).  8O

If you go by the battery tray, its not even a gti. the gti battery tray had the holes in the back for the airbox support, this mk1 doesnt have those holes.

dont know if this is correct, just going off personal experience.

either way its a top find, and worthy of a good home and project..
