didn't get too much done over the weekend, made a start stripping the roof down, going to be ordering up the paint this week so now busy working out what paint code I want for the grey
note to self: close the damn windows when sanding ops:
also come across a bit of an electrical issue
can't get the indicator/hazzards or wipers working at all
checked the usual suspects of hazzard switch and fusebox but think there may have been a short under the dash so will strip that out next and take a look (while I'm waiting on wet paint to dry  )

It is separate Scott. See pic from when I did mine, this is before repair patch went on - the stud mount is quite hefty metal

  Hang on…. what's this? could it be…. have I pulled the Mk1 out and carried on working on it
I've been busy! still got the drivers wing to paint (AGAIN! because the bumper fell on it after it was perfect  )
but, after that it's on to the home straight for the MOT! need to replace the water pump, sort the indicators (still)
I'll be honest with you guys though, had a 'senior' moment on saturday, went to turn it around and couldn't find reverse, so I pushed it back to get it up the drive thinking the linkage had come loose… only to realize an hour later that you need to push down to get reverse ops: serves me right for smokin about in land rovers! I've forgotten how to drive a real car

:y: Cheers guys, it's always nice and motivating getting good replies
I'm hoping to get it back on the road before xmas, or at least ready for the MOT, I'm still debating keeping the original engine in there or shoe-horning something else in…
I won't be running bumpers so trying to find a nice looking set of indicators to mount right under the headlights, and as I'll need to cut the panel about a little I won't spray that up just yet
not sure about the grille trim, had a crazy thought of doing it in a dark metallic blue colour just to be a little different but reckon that'll look naff… we'll see though
still loads of decisions to make

Been tinkering again recently so thought I'd dig out the old thread again, even though I've not really posted much here of late, I'm always lingering about in the shadows
new water pump and cam belt amongst other things have now been fitted
there's not too much in the way of putting it in for an MOT, so with a bit of luck and time, the old girl will be on the road again soon

few bits done, as it's too cold to finish the last bit of painting that needs doing I spent a few hours figuring out some electric faults, decided it was easier to pull the dash out to make my life a little easer
found that the fuseboxes I have all share the same fault
I was horrified to find out a new one from GSF (that is, if they still have any stock) is £110 + VAT 8O so I've made some temporary fixes until I can bring myself to pay that much
moved my attention to something a little nicer once the dash was back in
not sure if I want cross-hair headlights or not so trying it out with some tape
this is something I'm not really sure on! but was an xmas gift from my aunt
and think I need to raise the front of the car a tad for the MOT!
that's all for now folks, thanks for reading
Oh, I'll come clean too, a big reason I'm looking forward to getting the Mk1 back on the road is my current daily….. is, well a little juicy

Thanks James, I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy a new one, think it's about time I fire some more money at the old girl
Rich, just a 740i with alpina wheels and bodykit.. priced up a rear tyre the other day… £365 without fitting 8O and at 11MPG with my heavy right foot I don't think I'll keep it long, I'll sell it to you cheap
not much to report on the Mk1 front, just been doing a little bit of faffing about really, once Feb is out of the way I should have it MOT'd
