My Golf GL!

Post

My new project

Hi all!

I just recently purchased this GL from an advert I found on Gumtree…couldn't believe my luck when i saw it!

A 1982 Mk1 GL in metallic sand with around 80k, FSH and one very careful owner!

This is us towing it back from the garage that it had been stored in for 17 years…

It's totally standard including a few little spots of surface rust on the doors and roof and it's even got a colour coded umbrella in the boot. Gotta love old people.

Getting it MOT'd at the moment then I shall get some more pictures and post them up!

Doesn't sound too drastic :) good luck on mot, the umbrella is a nice touch I think.

A few more pictures that i poached from the sellers page…

(Needs coilies)

A very tidy bay even if the engine is a little small…

Cheers mate!  I'm not sure that it's a colour that I would usually go for either; I'm a tornado/ mars red kinda person!

I had a result today…it passed it's MOT! Had to have a new brake cylinder, the carb stripped down, rebuilt and then replaced (thanks Dan Pyle - Berkshire mk1s) and a couple of other bits replaced but all in all, all good for a bird that's been sat in a garage since the last millennium! Most satisfying drive home…EVER!!

Hello mate! I'm not sure really. I've got some BBS RMs from my Mk2 that i split and sprayed satin black

and i'm almost certain that I need coilovers to pull off the look! Other than that, It's insured, MOTd and only needs tax when I get the V5 back!
I intend to keep it 'cheap' and run it daily!
How're you doing?

After fitting my RMs it appears that I have a Mk1 Country. Time for coilies!

Also replaced some peeling Hella stickers on the fog lights. It's the little things! (I'm ignoring the rust spots for the moment :-/)
