My First Resto
New Shoes waiting to be fitted
4 x 4 Mode (Definately need to sort that ops: )
And finally getting rid of the rubbish interior
Next step is to strip to a bare shell and then she's going in for some body mods and a colour change in the new year.
Then i can start the fun part which will be putting it all back together, albeit with a few tweaks here and there

Was very impressed how solid it was for ?300. Only rust found is surface rust on the rear arches underneath the trims and a couple of patches on the bootlid.
I wish it came with the wheels for ?300 the cost me ?370 from a guy in Germany and the tyres were ?240 fitted. (Making the wheels worth twice what the car is 8O )
Current plans are a full respray in Audi Canyon Red and then ill make a decision on what way the interior will go (Stripped and caged weekend track warrior or Leather retrim and make it a sweet daily driver)

restoration
[Show phonetics]
noun [C/U]
the act or the process of returning something to its original condition, or to a state similar to its original condition
Not knocking what you are doing it's not a restoration though is it.
Not sure I would have referred to a series 2 dash as rubbish either. Lots of people on here quite happy with that dash.

You could do a desert safari in a mk1 golf safe in the knowledge theres always moisture stored in the floor insulation.

Work has stopped for now as this has all been done without a garage and its a bit too cold. So im gonna wait until it warms up again before i carry on.

I know what you mean, when I think of restoration, I imagine a severely rotten car with many parts beyond redemption, being totally stripped, new sections of bodywork constructed, then all mechanical, electrical, running gear components etc refurbished or replaced.
My Golf isn't that bad, but it certainly has had a number of 'issues' which would have been uneconomical on a ?500 banger. For example, clutch, patches of bodywork, replacing a number of FI and braking components, etc. I'd describe it as 'renovation' not restoration.
Stripping all the interior, electrics and engine out of a car, can't be sniffed at!
