My brand new used car....
Just collected it on Thursday and brought it home on Friday - well chuffed!!
It is still on the sellers private plate here - these were taken when I first looked at it, the first time it was on eBAY.

It's funny - I took so long to decide to buy it (which probably helped with the price for me) and now I wonder why I had any doubt!!

I always liked the Golf, having had several in my family in the 70s and 80s ( learned to drive it one and court girls in one  ). Never had a convertible one though…

I think it was the 1.6 diesel that initially put me off…
…but it actually goes very nicely 8)

The interior was a major selling point for me - the leather re-trim is a very well done job…
…and the dash etc is is excellent condition…
The mileage showing is all that it has done since the re-build 3+ years ago. When I collected it the mileage was exactly 1500. It's now at close to 2000.

I like the detail the guy went into e.g. even finding the correct "Diesel" badge….
The tow bar is apparently a new genuine one but I don't think it has done any work…

The alloys are genuine (but I don't know what car they are originally from? GLS?) and have been refurbished - all five of them…

Looks like quite a professional install. I'd guess engine's from a later Caddy and looks like a 16v master brake cylinder has been fitted.
Alloys are standard MK1 GTI from about 1980.

Thanks! I am very pleased with it and I'm learning to love the 1.6 diesel.
I think if I ever do an engine change, it will be for another diesel - Tdi perhaps…

lordmontford (Mark Wilson) and I have acquired this between us…
Mainly for the 1.8L engine:
…which we got running last weekend. The previous owner had stripped everything off it - lightbulbs, speakers etc and had cut a fuel line to suck out the remaining petrol.
But it started first time, as soon as we repaired the fuel line and put a gallon of fuel into it.

The engine in the Vento seems pretty good but I'm thinking of staying with diesel.
We have this car in the family - a Tdi Polo Classic (1.9)….
Which won't be needed forever - I was therefore wondering if this engine would be a suitable candidate for the Golf….
How difficult would the transplant be? :dontknow:
Or is a Tdi Golf engine more straight forward?

It is so genius of you guys to convert an old car engine into a golf car. Time has caught up with us, we are no longer young to enjoy fast and furious cars on the road. We had now settled into the green pathway of golf club and it rocks to do it in style.
