i have been busy again tonight finishing stripping the car. EVERYTHING is out now bar the engine so as soon as i can find somewhere to prep and spray it the engine will be out to be done to. forgot to take my camera but mat got some so a couple more pics to be posted 2mora!

All the best with the project! Used to live in Donnie and my mrs used to work in Retford when we lived in England - seemed like a nice place :-)

yeah its not bad. gettin to be a bit of a chav infested area in the town centre at night tho

so here are a few pictures of last nights work……

and heres a picture of the engine bay which will need a very thorough clean when the engines out as it is CAKED in waxoyle!!



when i got in from work i decided to have a good look through all the paper work. theres loads! all past m.o.ts and service history



the car has only failed its m.o.t once in its 26 year life and that was only on a fuel pipe leak and a worn wheel bearing


the car even came with its original order form and bill of reciept for which the owner traded in a 1275gt mini!!





hopefully over the next couple of days the engines comin out and getting stripped down and all axles etc coming off to be painted. only job now is to find somewhere where i can take it to paint it!!!!!!!!!

That's quite a piece of history you have there, and progress is looking good!

And if you're looking for a place to paint I'd recommend The Paint Workshop in Stapleford, they're a Volkswagen paint specialist which is cool and they do some top work

not too far from me then deejay. dont really no bridgeford. only really know a few places in and around nottingham. when cars done we will have to take a ride over for a drink or summat and u can have lookski. i dont want a paint shop as i have a bloke to do my paint work. hes used to do it from home but neighbours keep complainin so we need to find a lock up or summats to do it now. his work is tip top. il post a pic of my old mini what he did later on. got some some pics of my progress to put up

a little bit more progress for those of you that are interested! just before i left the house yesterday to go to work a big red van pulled up and a man handed me a box. these were inside….




so with a smile on my face i went to work.

today a took off one of the front wings before the weather started to turn. i was pleasantly suprised with how clean the arches were under the liner…





so heres the wing removed its pretty much perfect with regards to straightness but theres a bit of rust setting in around the lower part of the arch which is gonna have to be cut out and re plated and its the same on the passenger side. i feel that this is rather good considering the cars age and the fact that the rest of the car is mint!





note the runs were the cars had a crappy respray at some point!!

i no its non mk1/vw but the pic below shows the sort of standard the body work should be at by the time its done. this is my old mini…




i no it wont be to everyones taste and after i got it back it wasnt to mine much either so i got rid soon after. although sometimes i do regret it!! and dont worry there will be no body kits with this project!!

looking good buddy, where abouts in retford you live as i'm from there :mrgreen: , will be nice to see a 5 door around town,
jase does have a yellow mk1 and i 've got a jetta :roll:
should pop up to 'the love shack' at stokeham were we have 3 mk1's, a mk1 rocco, a caddy and owt esle whats there ,

yes mate they are just some budget coilovers off ebay. i think there called hot tuning or something. cost ?200 delivered so not bad at all!
