Hi all
Some of u guys and girls may know that i am rebuilding my mk1 golf, so far i striped all the front end and also repairing the rear arches along with all new vw panels, it will be repainted next year jan/feb time but suck on colour lol. here a few new pics will update tomorrow, my angle grinder comes out to play again lol ohhhhh by the way is going to be vr6

Plated the inner arch where it has some rust :-( :-(

Done bit more work today, wanted to keep as much of the panels oe on the rear so only welding up what needed also made a start on the n/s rear arch!
also repaired the spare wheel holder and rold the o/s arch! i let the pics do the talking-
good old mig lol

hi mate loving the motor just wanted to know i have been doing the same thing as you with replacing panels all done now apart from the rear tow eye i see you have done yours did you buy that small plate or did you cut it off a new rear valance many thanks mike

could you do me a favour and post pics of your engine mounts please?Im interested in a vr into mk1 swap but other than 'you need custom mounts' im not getting much help. Should be a beast with the turbo though 8)

Hi i bought pattern rear repair panel and just used what i needed, want to leave as much of good oe panel on there because it better qualty than aftermarket panels!

i have not got round to the custom mounts as yet but will do after christmas as doing all the bodywork first then engine so it goes stright to paint, but have read up on the caddy fourm and aint that much work!

cheers manim registered over there so ill tae a jum over and chec it out,my mates doing a S/c onto his vento vr this wee and ive been eyeing up the spare engine hes got lying. Ill give it a proper measure before the end of the week

great conversion!! which parts did you use for body repair and which manufacture did you buy?? i've worked with Klokkerholm-Denmark…the parts look good…time will tell!!

Just a small update, pick up a set of second hand 928 wheels of ebay today which i will be refurbing myself! Also carried on searching for rust lol (u got to love mk1s lol)

Right update time, been busy to day changing the front panel and repairing the end corners of the front panel! Nothing fit better than an oe front panel lol, here some pics will have more update soon!

hi were did you get the front panel from as when i did mine i got it from gsf and when i toed the car a few time the panel bent under the strain ,ive had to cut the slow half of even the cross menber and change it over , just thought id let you no lol

Bit of an small update, cleaned the n/s/f inner wing today, removed all the 24 year undercoating lol, grinded back to bare metal, only doing the flat part of the panel as in wheel arch is fine but will be coated to with fresh undercoat,as for tomorrow spray the inside with zinc rust proof primer and fresh coat of underseal!

i know i aint up dated this wip in long time but here what i been up 2, also been collected a few parts, bought all red rear lights and managed to get hold of oe sebring mirrors which if people don't know these are very rare to find! here some pics peps, will have more soon!

sound dening removed and anti rust proof
had to reforce the front panel to take vr engine

that all for know will have more soon…

Well been busy today, smoothed of the rear arch seams also finish of the side panels and archs are completed done, also manage to reseal the sunroof and strip engine bay! here some pic hopefully have the engine in soon 8-)
