after getting rear ended the work starts

after getting rear ended the other week have decided to start work on the golf, need to replace both sills and wings, and at the moment 1 rear inner and outer arch, car ill then be painted in and out, interior retrim and at some point 16v motor,
heres the small damage thats got me started,

Then last friday these turned up mm

As i only have the use of this car its a rolling project, not a good idea. decided to start with replacing the near side sill as heavily corroded,

removed the wing and door to gain access to the sill, the inner wing was in very good condition except for a small hole near the scuttle panel, will deal with this when fitting new wing.

,
using hadrian panels for the repairs as come recomended, just placed the sill ovver the old one and a pretty good match up,

The sill is now fitted and primed to stop rust, but couldnt take any pics as forgot camera,
Removed the old sill cutting it along the short ledge in the door shut and as little as poss on the rear section to the arch. broke the spot welds along the bottom then pulled off, Found a couple of small rust patches on the inner sill to floorpan so plated these. Also plated the area on the inner arch at rear of sill. Cut the new sill to match and fitted this seam welding along all sections except the bottom piece, this was drilled and spot welded, chucked some filler in not a great job but body shop told me he will finish ( hate filler work ).
Next stage will be the rear arch on this side,
will get pics up of this sill and other one being fitted later.
Took back for mot retest and now has a new ticket, woo hoo :)

Front wing this side can be repaired but gonna change,

Rear arch this side, to be replaced also, more pics as doing,

Gonna have to roll the wing arches as new tyres just catching, or slightly extend, not sure what do do yet?

Heres the fitted sill, ignore the filler work on rear end as have to fit arch so not to worried bout that at the mo.

Started to fit the wing today and repair rot near scuttle,

Cut out the old rot and made a template for new piece.

Made a repair patch and welded into place.

Tidied this up and filled and primed.

Fitted the new wing, which wasnt a great fit. Needed to grind quite a bit off door shut edge as wouldnt sit flush to door. Have to file out fixing holes 2 moro to get perfect as ran short of time. So will prime inner side and seal at the same time.

Got the wing sorted today then moved onto the rear inner and outer arch, what a job.
The inner in a worse state.

Cut all the rot out then cut the new panels as i wanted, spent ages lining the inner and outer up but the inner was awful, a real bad match. profile completely wrong, ended up having to pull the new inner to the old with self tappers then tacking into place. when panels finally the best i could get welded into place, didnt put any filler in yet just sealed and primed.

Offered the plastic arch up to this and was suprised at how well it fiited, Aint looking forward to the other side.
