Tyre Choices

Some advice please. I've some alloys, 6J 14", so same as a P Slot.
Tyre choices seem a little thin on the ground (185/60/14). I've sort of narrowed it down to:
> Pirelli Cinturato P1 Verde
> Toyo Proxes CF2
Can anyone compare them, or have any input if their any good? Or even recommend another tyre
Cheers,
Adam.

I'm running on Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance and very pleased with the performance, they are great in the wet, good grip in the dry and very quiet compared to the Yokohama I had before. I had Hankook K425 before that but they did not seem to last very long….

My comment comes more from recent years buying bigger, wider tyres, and having many more to choose from.mark1gls said
There's plenty of choice out there for 185/60/14, where have you been searching?

I've used all these companies in the past.
I'd be getting the delivered rather than fitted too, which thins the heard of suppliers.
Thanks for the comment on the Goodyear, I'd discounted it having had a poor set in the past. Will take a look thanks.
Cheers

From memory the Pirrelli 'verde' meens 'green' and I think that lessens it as a performance tyre. I have had many Toyo's and they have always been really good so I would go for those or another of their model number of tyres -look at the ratings!
Yokahama A809 I think , these used to be ace tyres in this size, so look for them too.
Above all check all the tyres official ratings and make your choice from that.

Fancy names on the tire wall, sexy looking tread patterns and all that.
If you have a Mk1 to drive and give you overall sound performance wet or dry believe it or not Dunlop the SP range.
I have The Sport BluResponse. Just Google them and the comments.
I'm on my second set because when I bought mine it had a set and in total they had done 60,000 Km's. So I bought another and they do all that the packet says and more, the grip in the wet is amazing.
Apart from my younger days having motorbikes I've never had Dunlops until the Mk1 but now I swear by them.
If fact I will need to buy new summer tires for my Mk6 TSI, DSG 7speed which is pushing 180 bhp and with the race suspension and full chrome race exhaust system is like lightening when you want it but I go over to the Dunlops because I honestly believe they can handle the power far more than my Pirelli or Michelin.
Can't comment on other makes of course!

Re:
Abfmk1 - Yeah it's why I went for something the same ballpark as the pslot … I'm sure they were made that width, offset etc for a reason..
Daytona - Yeah, the Verde seemed to be an overly verbose name.. wondered if it was a clue to being a summer or eco type tire… Always fancied a set of Yoko's never known why… Probably the tread patterns.

Thanks for the Dunlop recommendation, I bought the ex-otherhalf a set of BluResponse' for her KA not so long ago… Never could tell how good, or bad they were though
Also had a set of the SportMaxx many moons ago on my 8P S3 .. very quiet and decent road handling. Going back to my comment about looking at bigger tyres being my norm.
Currently on the Michelin PS4's though… Very good with 400hp in the S3 and it's part timer 4wd. Also never rated Pirelli in that range of fitment
Cheers guys,
Adam.
