Ok so to recap ill be using the km engine with the mk1 gearbox and shafts with the mk2 clutch. And 280mm spacers for the g60 brakes… will the mk2 clutch fit ok?
Thanks again!

with the mk1 gearbox you need a mk1 or mk2 1.8 8v clutch kit (they're the same, even the carb ones)
the mk2 16v clutch is also the same except the spline hole on the friction disc is bigger with more teeth as the 16v box has a larger input shaft
technically you could just swap friction disc, but chances are the pressure plate and release plates are past their best. you could inspect both the 8v and 16v clutch kits to see if any of it is salvageable though. you may get lucky and find one or both are quite recent![;)](https://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/themes/default/images/ocf_emoticons/wink.png)
actually with the 16v gearbox check the code, you never know it may have killed its original box and had an 8v box swapped over. if it has and the clutch kit is new/good then you can just bung the mk1 box on and go (you still cant use a mk2 1.8 8v box without changing flanges on it, or changing shafts to mk1 cab/rocco 100mm jobbers)
