I've got 15x6.5 et45 Megane steels I'd like to pair with 195/50 rubber.
Mostyl I've read it's the widest wheel that fits on Mk1, but offset is too big on these, and they are tucked in too much.
Currently running 185/60 on 14x6j et35 and can barely stick my finger between coil and wheel in the rear, front is a bit better, i can move finger around. Car sits on -40/40 TA TECH springs.
Car needs to pass MOT here in Croatia, which means, wheel must not poke outside arches (have plastic arches mounted) and must have 8mm clearance between coil/strut and wheel and same with arches on full lock.
What thicknes of spacers would do the job here? I can get them made for me…I was thinking 15mm front and 20mm rear. That gives me et30 front and et25 back, which results in 1mm less inner clearance and 11mm poke in front and et25 wich gives me 4mm more inner clearance and 16mm of extra poke for some stance action in the rear.
Does it sound correct to you? Does anyone have simmilar setup? I'm going for functionality and looks combined, 195s should stick it to the ground more and the fact theyre 15s should give the looks. Im liking g60 15s look but those are pricey here, and these look even better to me.

a 185 tyre and an off set of 35 gives you a finger width (10mm) clearance
Therefore you currently have 45mm with a 185 tyre
you need 8mm from the springs at the back therefore a finger width 10mm!
You want to go with et45 and 195, that means the tyre will be 15mm (10mm from the ET change plus 5mm more tyre on each side) closer to the spring.
Therfore to keep the tyre the same distance from the spring you will need 15mm spacers.
As you haven't said how far the tyre is from the arch lip I can't assist with that bit but it sounds like your on the right track!
Have a look at this too

I've done some measurments..
I leaned a level on a tyre under the arch, and I have about 5mm to the outer edge of arch at the front, and 30mm at the back.
185 tyre wall sticks out few mm outside the 6j rim lip.
So, at the back its sure thing. 20mm spacer gives me ~16mm wider track and ~4mm more inner clearance.
Front worries me still, to stay at same coil clearance i need 15mm spacer but it may stick out the arch a bit, and Im not sure what fails the MOT, rim lip, tyre wall or track sticking out.
tough job!
Ive seen some pics of 7j et25s on 175 rubber that seem to have more space to spare even withouth plastic arches. And i had 7j et24 RZs with 195 that poked few mm outside the arch..

Does anyone have a drawing maybe?
that lip is whats bothering me, if 57.1mm spigot pokes 15mm outside disc or drum, and i need 10 or 15mm spacer, its not enough material to make it hubcentric right?
