Which fuel?

I pick up my Golf next week and wanted to check the correct fuel to use
I assume E5

A forum search came up blank

Any confirmed answer on this topic?

Well they both have up to 5% or up to 10% ethanol in them, certain older fuel hoses are known to perish if in contact with ethanol for too long. So worth replacing them with hoses that are resistant to ethanol.
I always use super unleaded in mine which is E5. When we visit Ireland they only have E10 unleaded now, so I use that and the rubbers seem fine. Mine uses the GTI pump and hoses. I think the issue with E10 can be if the fuel sits for a long time, ie the car does not get used much, the fuel hoses can degrade.

We have had e-10 over hear for Decades I usually by E Rated hose, and if you are using it in a 84.5 or later Cabriolet, the hose in the tank needs to be submersible E-rated.

Alcohol will destroy, degrade, or errode older non-E-rated hoses. Same with o-rings as well.

I lived in the part of the Country where the 2 largest Corn/Soy bean companies started beta-testing it in the 70's Then in the 80's and the Fuel crisis over here it took off.

Both of those companies also started the TVP craze.
Textured Vegetable Protein Adding Soybeans to Meat, and that too was in the 70's, as the Grocer that I worked at was the big test for it.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Always use the best fuel you can buy.

I run my cars on v power or esso supreme.

As for hoses, you should periodically check them regardless of your chosen fuel grade.
