If some one has one apart at the moment you can tell what resistor is fitted by the coloured bands on it or if you could find a wiring diagram it may say on there?
Resistors are only a few pence from Maplins etc.

this is a seriously difficult one
the only way of truely knowing is either get another set of clock, check and replace or finding a diagram for them
I bought a replacement set of mk1 gti clocks, but the pcb was different, so I cannot connect the green vac adapter for the mpg.

The existing resistor has blown to bits, so no chance of identifying it. Can't find any pics/info on the main site or Google !!

Pretty sure he just has the main connector pinouts, not the pcb components. I'll have another search though

This is a very old topic, but this might help someone, information about old stuff can be difficult to be found.
I'll leave some pictures from a board, it might help somebody One day.
This is a motometer unit from a 91 mk1 cabriolet rivage with MFA, actually has a problem, a bad PNP amplifier transistor, the one in a picture with the red test multimeter lead.

While you have your Water temp gauge out, you might as well re-solder the leads to the pins, doen't take long an will make sure that your water temp gauge never goes flaky.
See my how to in the signature link.

Yes, did that and found out that my coolant level relay is kaput!
But the MFA is fixed! :-)
