2 questions

Hi all,

I'm half way through putting a g60 from a j plate corrado  in my clipper and I have a couple of questions .

1, when putting the engine in do I have to modify the side cross member or can I get away with leaving it be.

2, I need an oil pressure switch. Can anyone tell me which one and colour I need for the the PG engine. If anyone has the part number it would really help too.

thanks in advance
j

1. not sure what you mean? engien mounting on chassis leg? if so its fine as long as the car was 1.5-1.8 which it will be if clipper originally. however you might have to modify the mk1 engine bracket, iirc the g60 block has a blanking plate there which may get in the way

2. use the old MK1 switches if they differ from the G60 ones, you should have a white 1.8bar one in the filter housing and a brown or blue one in the side of the head at 0.25-0.3 bar.  dont go by colour if they're pattern switches, go by the rating. if you need a new one speak to VW they're not expensive

Hi again,

I've got the engine on just caddy mounts. But it looks like the charger bracket is going to foul. Should I of modified the chassis before the engine went in? Or is there anything I can do with the engine in situ.

Thanks for the info on the oil switches ;-)

Just grind a little alloy off the bracket, or you could just hammer the the cross member a little to fit, not much but just enough for clerance :)

Hi again,

Ordered and fitted the new slimmer bracket and it still looks like it fowls.

Anyway,  that's the least of my problems - I have a whole world of electrics to sort and I've got to figure out how to marry the corrado box up with the mk4 tower.

Cheers

Hi Jay,

Do you have any pictures of the bracket. Im sure this should get round it as the original bracket is quite chunky compared to the replacement.

I know it will still be tight.

Re the 02a gearbox you have, it might be easier / cheaper to find a second hand 02j gearbox which will have the correct gear selector.
