Is it a good idea?
I see some cars have the panel just in front wiper motor cut out. It is the one welded to each side of the inner wings and holds the plastic tray that prevents water from going down the heater. Can I cut it out or will there be some issues i have not thought about to deal with? It does make a better looking engine bay and would help the heat from the 20 valve turbo I am putting in escape. I was going to make a replacement cover for the heater. Steve

Never been in a golf that had got one removed but if the heater is still in then it must be really noisy and smelly inside the car.
If your going to minimalise the engine bay then everything needs to go but it all seems like an awful lot of work for something thats been done to death already.

I think they just look wrong with them removed, VW put it there for a good reason as already said.

I'm with Yomp on this, seems a lot of work for a minimal engine bay. Just seems a bit of a cliche these days
I personally can't understand what the appeal is unless engine vapours are the new magic tree…
