Audi 'Bubble Block for 1500JB Swap

Post

I'm thinking of a bubble block to replace the 1500 lump in my Series 1 as I want a bit more poke, but need to keep it as simple as possible and not have to do any 'destructive' mods as at some point I'll want to bring it back to the original spec.

I'm thinking that I use the 3A block with head/carb off a later Cab and rejet the carb to suit (weber twin choke replacement?). The car has the original 4 speed (it's a '78 Series 1) and wondering if this could be used and would be up to the job (it wouldn't be driven hard).

Is this a feasible swap ?

Cheers

Hi Matt - hope you are well!

The 3A was out of the Audi 80 - '88 to '90

Cheers

use a 1.8 gti head and cam, the 1.6/8 carb engierns have an extra coolant hole on the back which you dont need for the weber. plus the gti head flows better and cam is better as well.

ideally use a 1.8 kjet dizzy, but a carby one will work ok. your old box will bolt up and cope with the power, its just a case of will you be happy with the ratios
