6 speed gearbox fitment

Post

There seems to be mixed answers on the subject has anyone carried this out running a 1.8 20 valve turbo?

what gearbox codes are the best ref ratios and fitment?
what drive shaft lengths do you need?
gearbox flange sizes etc?
Mk4 gearbox or mk5?

I know just caddys do off the shelf mounts any other companies ?

would be nice to gather as much info as possible sorry if there is already a thread covering this

mk4 gearbox will require custom driveshafts plus not sure if you can use the usal 02a brackets as the box is pretty different. mk5 gearbox is same as 02a/j but with an extra gear so straight fit, though it has no speedo cable hole so you need to swap all the internals into a 5 speed 02j middle casing (maybe 02a work as well?)

So a mk5 6 speed box fits using the standard length shafts you run with a 20 valve conversion and o2j box ?

indeedy do da :)

only thing im not 100% sure of is the conversion brackets, its possible some holes may not be there? but if you're swapping bits of the gearbox casing to get the speedo hole back then you should be sorted :)
