1.8T 20V timing belt(mk2 16V) tensioner spacer?

Hi all,

Can anyone who has done the 16v timing belt tensioner mod on the 20V T, tell me the correct thickness spacer for it? I've read that it's 8mm and I've also read that it's 5mm, which one is it ? pics would also be great! TIA

you can use m18 self locking washer with original tensioner.

I think mine is 5mm mate if that helps.

Cheers lads, there is a 6mm difference between the two tensioners I have so getting a 6mm spacer made by a mate at a machine shop, hopefully that'll do the trick.

when i did my most people said 8mm. my didnt run true with 8mm. play about with it untill it runs true 6mm-8mm

Yeah it's a 6mm spacer then the washer which is just over 1mm. I'm getting a spacer made by a guy I know in a machine shop
