GTI brakes

Hi,

I'm in the process of fitting GTI front brakes to my 1.1. I thought i had all of the bits, new calipers, pads and discs! The problem is that the calipers do not appear to fit. I was told that it was suppost to be a straight swap!!    Am i missing a caliper carrier, or something similar? My MK1s in bits atm, so fast responce would be brilliant!!

Thanks Guys

Yes you need the carrier brackets for the MkII caliper - the 1.1/1.3 uses a floating caliper that bolts directly to the knuckle.

Try Rich (crazyquiff) on the link to the left. Should be available on any post-'78 Mk1 big block

For info, this bracket is no longer available from VW or any of the parts suppliers (ECP or GSF). So you'd need to rely on breakers for this one, I think.

I have just removed my calipers and carriers off my mk1 as I fitted the bigger 256mm versions.

Give me a PM and I'll sort you out a price ok fella.  :)

Cheers for the offer Laughingboy, But I?ve already got most of the bits now!

I tried Rich (crazyquiff) and he sorted me out with the Carrier brackets.

Only thing I?m missing is a set of 'Guide Bolts' to fit the Calipers onto the Caliper Mounts!

Thanks for the help Guys

 Regards James  :)
