NWM22 - 9th September, Preston Brook

This is shocking, where has all the enthusiasm for NWMs gone? I know that I'm not going so it might seem a bit hypocritical but there were loads of people arguing about location a month ago and now there are two people who would be able to go.

The times I have been to Preston Brook I have absolutely loved the drive over.

Anyone else love the drive to meets almost as much as the meet itself??

its unfortunate, but the same thing happened last month, loads of people said they were gonna go and 3(not counting the missus) turned up. at least this time there's a bit of prior warning. personally, i try to make meets if i can, unforunately i'm working  :banghead: which is a real bugger cos i was looking forward to this meet after the last 1.

Personally, its too far out on a limb for me and I supect most other people.

Place it centrally and more people whould be 'round the corner' or at best not too far away. A 70 mile round trip with a 2 yr old to entertain isn't great for me so I'll wait for a nearer location.

Thanks.

Yep, me too. There's no point trying again and again, it seems that there's loads in the NW but they don't want to have a regular meet.

Really had fancied popping down to this, but got so much to do housewise etc etc that I can't spare the time -really sorry-

There is a classic car rally in sunny Morecambe on Sunday (tomorrow)  at 1ish however, which I will try to pop along to as it's local for me - anybody else fancy a run to the seaside? May see you there?

i dont mind the drive but the only problem is that both my GL and GLi are off the road and i just havet had time to get them sorted.  But once i have got them sorted i would be nice to meet up. :D

Did this ever go ahead?

what has happened to the NW meets!!!??? 8O  although i wasnt able to make any in the past, (think it clashed with college night) i remember feeling right annoyed about it cos of the ammount of people there!

i have a new mk1 (which i trust on motorways! ) and would be well up for a sunday meet. i think preston is a reasonable place and is fairly central in Lancashire, but if a new place can be agreed closest to the majority of people who want to go maybe give that a do?

what ever way im easy   come on people!!!!

Would it be better re-locating?  Possibly at the Reebok, Horwich, M61?

Greg,

It all went down hill when the location was moved out of the catchment area for the majority. Its good to try different locations BUT if it doesn't work then put it back to the way it was….. or find an even better location.

The Wiggin Tree served well for Lancs, Manchester, Bolton, Warrington and was within striking distance for members from Southport way. What it didn't cater well for were those from Liverpool and North Wales. Its just too far to travel to I expect.

Its a sad fact that people (me included) won't travel extensive distances for a meet but if one is close enough then it will be well attended. Having organised the Wiggin Tree for 18 months successfully with regular numbers attending then I would favour a return there and would be more than happy to put my efforts towards organising them again.

However, if anyone would like to work out where the NW members are located, find a location, speak to the landlord to get the ok, pm members, monitor threads and ensure that they are there to welcome people….. feel free to crack on!!!!

Personally, I'm not too bothered with regional meets. Putting this year into context, I was able to get to a few more shows this year, and I also noticed a better turnout for the club stands and we must have been noticed at at least All Types and GTI Inters for a good turnout and good presentation of cars.

If we're going to ask people to give up their weekends, I'd rather persuade them to come to a proper show than a regional meet. There's at least 3 shows in the NW area in the summertime (All Types nr Rhyl, North Wales; NWTW at Tatton Park; a new show near Preston).

The wiggin tree was a proper let down, overpriced as well as being very busy. and only 3 turned up.
Thegreg's idea of central lancs ie preston blackburn etc is a goodun i'd be well up for it and i'm sure a few other members could be persuaded to.
maybe it is a case of splitting the north west into 2-3 groups to make meets more accessable for members.
