I have wanted one for 20 years. Full service history from new,  low mileage,  cost us £1000 which I think was a good price for her. She needs painting but other than that is in pretty good shape

Hi

Nice looking cabby. What's your plans other than paint?

I think I'm going to restore it to its former glory,  keep it as original as possible. It came with a set of bigger bumpers,  not sure if I like them

Original means just that so you'd need to put the big bumpers and body kit back, which are not hard to find.

As you said, it's low mileage with FSH from new which is not easy to find these days and will add greatly to the value if the car is completely standard again.

With the price you paid you can afford to do it and to do it right.

Or you can go right in the other direction and Mod it to death which means the mileage and FSH will not be anywhere near as important.

But it's your MK1 and you do to it whatever makes you happy and puts a big smile on your face every time you walk out to it!

It's a 1985, so the bumpers you have on now are correct and I think value wise will be more important as the years go on. It's your car though so whichever you want to live with is the important part as Mike says.

All the aftermarket kits back in 85 I think still kept the original bumpers if I remember. 89/90 when the bigger plastic bumpers came in as part of the 'Clipper' kits although they were in short supply at the time so not all got them.
