pic of the rear tub done , just needs seam sealer then shutz.

Pretty sure my mates mk1 has the same bolts throught the rear panel and it was something o do with a tow bar.

been working on the car on and off but had a good few hours this week to get stuck in got the under side in shutz.


then today had a few hours so got some paint on her.

That looks great. How did you strip the underside?

With a hot air gun and a 1 inch chisel. Works good but takes a fair bit of time and a lot of skin of your knuckles, end result is worth it though.

Looks fantastic, hard work to achieve, but well worth it looking at the results. Good job

had a few hours spare so got onto the rear beam and fitting new poly bushes

How did you find the fitting of the outer bushes mate?

To be honest wasn't that bad, you just need to make sure you have the u shape brackets back on the correct way as they taper , then I put some mole grips close ish to the end then pulled the to ends together then wind the mole grips in a bit and so on till you can tap the tapered clip over. Suppose was easier it being off the car.

Good news then mate. Mine were an absolute buggger to do

i would imagine it being a ball ache if it was on the car. one of them jobs where you need an extra pair of hands.

not done much really since xmas but getting back to it now, few pics.




finshed the rear end just got to sort hand brake cables so made a start on the engine bay.

Yeah really getting back into it now, but after seeing all the pics of people putting there mk1s up in the sun, I just want it finished so I can get out in it but trying not to rush it.
