MK1 VAN No V5c or Reg Number only a VIN

I'm buying a MK1 Van shell. Snag is the owner has no V5C for it nor any clue what the original reg No is. all it has is a VIN. any Ideas on finding the reg No?

DVLA will refuse without a Registration No will they not ?

Well the VIN has to be registered to something. You could be in a situation where you've inherited the car from an old relative and they haven't used it since 1990. The reg plates could have somehow disappeared over the years so now you just need their help to reclaim the cars identity.

I have read of folk needing to consult the "Club" to confirm the age of the shell via the VIN. is this something anyone on here can do?

Yep, he's right. I had a my  v5c sent to some completely random person in a totally different part of the country to me and had to prove the car was mine by sending them a picture of the vin plate and filling in a v62 ( I think that's the number from memory) so better you let him do the work unless it's going to be reflected in the price.

Just checked on hpi and this vin is not registered on there. Could throw up complications when trying to track down the correct reg.
