Mk1 golf gti, 2L 16v, OZ turbo's. R1 Carbs

l yeah still havent put carpet in yet but ive used some well expensive heat shield stuff underneath. may have to use some tin aswell. im still to time it up properly should be sorted tomorrow, im only concerned about the heat because ive run my break lines through the inside of the car along the top of the tunnel , hopefully sort it tomorrow, my mates manifold glows when hes been giving it some so i reckon ill be ok for now.

Might be a bad idea to weld those baffles in, considering that you are expecting the bottom to be hit. Its going to cave in and push the baffles up.

I expect it to scrape from time to time, not hit mate. The baffles are only made from thin sheet steel anyway which will give before the crank mashes them up lol.

Cheers mate. The tyres on the oz turbos are 185/45/15 nankang ns2's. Gives a nice little stretch.

They'll be replaced soon for 195/45's soon though. Loosing the looks in favour of better grip  :D

Been collecting up parts over the past few weeks ready to upgrade my 256mm brakes to 280mm.  In good time too as my audi 256mm stuff sold today.

Black diamond dimpled and grooved disc's, G60 Black diamond predator pads.
Early VR6 calipers and carriers(same as G60).
Adaptors

Also picked up a pair of Scirocco 16v handbrake cables today, ready for when i do rear disc conversion. I already have the other bits.

Think i'am going to get all the calipers powder coated and maybe get my sump done in the same colour :)

I only asked because I had set of big brakes and my 15" wheels wouldn't fit. I think it's because I had 15" P-slots and the inside of the wheel is machined funny.

Love the look of this car, serious inspiration!

I have the same spec wheels, abf, jenveys, dta and quaife diff ready to go into a mk1, just looking for the right car, hope to have one by the end of January!

Good luck with the rest of the bodywork, you're doing great work so far!

Smoothed my ABF rocker cover today as i'll be getting some parts powder coated soon.

I cut the tabs off the sides then smoothed down the casting marks. Finished off with a quick sanding. Shot blasting will do the rest

Also chopped in a section into the drivers side quarter panel that i did'nt like

Tacked in. Also welded a bit from the inside so theres less to grind down smooth  ;)

Will fill in the gaps in stages so that i dont produce too much heat and warp the panel.

I did start on cutting a piece to do the section thats a bit lower on the panel but was time for tea so i packed up
