An impact driver is the tool that everyone should have !!

Be careful using stainless steel bolts on suspension, they are not strong enough usually.

Ade they may not be stainless now I think about it :-)

I tell what Chris, I heard this week the postal workers in the UK are getting a big, big pay rise.
But if I got a thousand percent increase, I'd still cringe seeing your name on a packet, bearing in mind the sheer number you must get per month!

But fair play to you Sir, you know I'm just pulling your leg!

Good on you Chris. Your making me feel bad for not getting through to help you.
I don't think I'd waste the time changing the fuel lines until you refurbished the car.
Should there not be a tee piece on the vacuum hoses at the back of the carb?

First Golf, lots of work. I've started so I'll finish!

I am hopefully getting the lines blown through this week and then put it back together.

As for the vacuum hoses, Ive done what others have told me over the forum but nobody has physically seen the car so its set up the way the guys have said.

Hopefully at some point you or my buddy will confirm things.

Does anyone know what this wire and switch type thing is next to the battery ?

It looks like it may be the cut off switch that is under the dash ???

Could I be right ??

The green wire goes they a bulkhead grommet into the dash and the blue wire has the connector on it but its just loose just now !

It does have a connector that would go on one if the battery terminals !!

Car is a ducking nightmare :-(

Mate came and blew thru the fuel lines, then cleaned out the carb, changed the totally knackered bottom gasket on the carb.

And the result is the car is virtually not running at all !!!

Absolute nightmare :-(

So he's told me he thinks it may be the points and condenser, so I've ordered them for him to change and then do the timing, to eliminate that from the list.

Did a wee clean on the grill area while waiting for him to arrive.

Before with serious waxoyl and crud around light area

After when all cleaned

Old and new Hella headlights for later

Poor pic but totally destroyed carb gasket
