Fantastic work! I'm still trying to get my 16vg60 engine finished and ready to go in my mk1. Will be keen to see what power you squeeze out of it. Has it been on the road yet?. I'm taking mine done to JMR for mapping once it's ready, I take it he's mapping yours when it's ready?

Thank you..
No not been driven yet.. JMR will be doing all of the tuning work.. Once I've put a 2000 miles on her..

Looking nice and you've answer one of the questions thats been bugging me. Looks like my cross memeber is getting chopped as you've mounted your alternator the same as mine.
My rough mock up had it just clearing but I'm guessing I'm well out with my measurements lookng at yours LOL!
Surprised you didn't go for a twin pass intercooler, would have thought the pipework would have been easier. That said I like your solution, really impressive fabrication.
What make was your 4 branch by the way?

Thanks mate..
I'm going on JMR's recommendation with the intercooler.
With the room that's needed for other parts to fit a twin pass intercooler would take up valuable room.
The manifold I bought from eBay listed as a right hand one.. I believe everyone is tight but my one for some reason was fouling the steering rack.

Happy days! I can only dream of reaching the finish line at the moment but I'm sure it will be all worth while. Have you got a date for having it mapped or just whenever you get the miles on the clock? Be interesting to see how it compared to the 8v g60.

Hopefully this week I'll be putting some miles on her.. Keeping her below the 3000 rpm
Once there's 2000 miles on her then it's all about the tuning.. Live mapping session..

I've been eyeing up some of those eBay one, was going to take a punt on the hot tuning one as I need those adjustable pipes as I'm using an ABF. I'll prepare myself for some potential chopping!

Very nice, Are you sticking with a 68mm pully?

The problem with twin pass intercoolers is that they are a lot more inefficient than a straight through one. The air has to turn through 180 degrees which will increase the pressure drop experienced across it and therefore reduce the flow rate that the charger can push through it. So you might get cooler air but it will not reach the cylinders fast enough to be of any use.
I think the name of this type of intercooler makes them sound a good way to go, but in reality they are usually used when space constrains and you want the inlet and outlet on the same end.
Technically they are all aftercoolers and not intercoolers - lol - i'll get my coat

Wow, that looks stunning Greig!! I love the overall finish of the engine bay and the VHT sutff gives a nice finish
Any concerns of having a notch taken out of the front cross member?

Thanks Andy
I'm so pleased with the end result.. It gives me a massive smile every time I open the bonnet..
As for cutting out part of the front chassis, no issues the sides have been welded and strengthen internally Im running a 62mm pully. That was always my plan to run it with that size!

Ah cool. I didn't think you'd allow half a job to be done to your car but couldn't make it out in the pics.
I look forward to seeing it again at the AGM
