Floppy top g60 project

Post

Not content with having just the tintop in the garage, I have just taken delivery of this one.

Working long hours and a couple of young kids means that i shouldn't be buying project cars anymore but I couldn't not have this.

This was painted 10 years ago but never been on the road. It's had a g60 put in but needs the plumbing and wiring doing.

There are a few little bodywork tweaks and luckily the paint is good.
The roof is scrap and there is no trim inside and no doubt there is a bunch of other missing bits but im looking forward to having a tinker.

I haven't really touched the cab yet apart from giving it a quick sponge over and fit my wheels but here it is.

I've been getting stuck into this recently,  I'm probably a week or two away from getting it mot'd.
Should make it to the agm in something other than the daily passat for the first time in a few years

Now insured, mot'd and taxed.

I've been driving it locally today and it turns out that    there's a few little bits I still have to iron out but overall I'm really pleased with it ,

A good few hours tinkering tomorrow should see more progress

Looking good…. bet it's fun to drive with that engine in it but I expect your still running it in for a bit till you give it the "full beans"

You got it,  I've kept the rod change box so it goes through the gears pretty quickly.
This car was last taxed in 2000 so has been off the road for 18 years, I plan on using it whenever possible

After I've done the last couple of jobs to this (replace gearbox mount and front wheel bearings ) it's likely that I'll be advertising the little pocket rocket for sale.

Seeing the nice cars at the agm has given me the mojo to get my red hardtop back in one piece so I'll need the space.

Keep your eyes peeled for a for sale ad over the next month or so

It didn't have an interior when I bought it, has leather now 👍

I don't have any photo's of the seats but I'll take some when I next fetch it out of the garage.

I don't think it was a black edition,  I bought it from a good mate of mine who owned it for 20 years so he'd probably remember what it started out as

I keep toying with black leather for mine, the black edition material is a pain as the just fall apart.

I quite like the single wiper on yours

Now on ebay,  I'm obviously not expecting asking price but I'd knock off a bigger chunk of money for it to go to a forum member
(mostly so I know where it is so I can try to buy it back if I miss it too much )
