4 Speed 1.3 gear Linkage :(
Hi all,
Just putting my engine back into the car after restoring the bodywork.
I purchased the vehicle with the engine not in the engine bay and now that I'm putting it together I can't work out how the linkage connects and what parts i need to buy.
From the car there are 2 pipes coming out and only one connector on the gearbox? which isn't coming in at the same angle as the other 2.
Wondering if anyone has any experiance of this? It's a 1.3 Golf mk1 1983, 4 speed manual transmition.
Thank you in advance.

Chuck up some pics mate.
The linkage is fairly simple tbh.
Gearstick has a ball at the bottom with a rod that come out and goes under the car towards the gear box.
It then has an odd shaped cup on the end that hooks over a ball on the gear box.
That's pretty much it.

So the S1 and s2 golfs are different ? Or is the gearbox a 5 speed and car is 4 speed. Been trying to make a adapter but it's become a mission!

Your shifter should look like this.

Number 31 in the picture should be connected to your gearbox. And number 29 should be on the end of your shift rod. 29 simply sits over the 'ball' of 31.
