83 Gti set to get full resto

Yeah I'll be moving on to the engine and refurbishing other parts soon mate, just need to get the place tidied up.

I'm normally quite good at keeping the place tidy, it's just been a mad rush the past week and got neglected a bit

Cheers bud, Got no pics to post at the minute, waiting for some to come from the painters, hopefully not be too long. Going to start refurbing bit next week so I'll post some then!!

Looking forward to seeing this in one colour, nice work so far bud

I'm more than sure the paint will be awesome Alfie, I've seen his work in the flesh now  Here's a little bit of my work as well. Started cleaning a few parts up ready for rebuild.

Hub carriers were a bit rusty, so gave the a good clean up with an assortment of wire wheels.





Masked them up and gave a couple of coats of etch primer.


Top Tip - an spray can lid is the exact size to fit in the hub to keep the paint of the bearing faces.


Three coats of black enamel


I will be pressing some new bearings in tomorrow at work.

Next I moved on to my inlet mani for the 1.8T



Stripped it and wire wheeled it


2 coats of etch again


finished off with 3 coats of  Halfords VHT black, love the colour of this stuff, also did the rocker cover a while back.



Tried cleaning this fuel tank heat shield, but it's just falling to bits. I might try and make a one out of stainless at work, or might just wrap the exhaust, can't decide
