Small update seeing as I haven't updated in a couple of weeks. Been figuring out the coolant pipework with a bit help from a mate, just waiting for more stuff to arrive  :) She is getting there slowly but surely!

Also Got the FMIC and RAD fitted exactly where they are staying, so once the coolant lines are done I can move on to boost pipework.

Made some custom stainless brackets to keep the FMIC in place.

I chopped the four mounting lugs that are on both sides of the RAD so I could move the RAD and the FMIC closer together.

Also fitted the swage lines to the rear quarters. These are from funk-star  and are an excellent fit!!

Cheers,

Andy

Coming together Andy ;) Will you be fitting the black GTI stripes to the lower body?

Cheers bud, yeah going to fit the stripes but no sill trim. Decided against sill trim as I don't want extra holes in the sill. Not sure if I could bond them on though?

Post

I reckon bonding would be tricky. I guess the only way would be to cut the peg off the back of the clips and bond those? I don't reckon it would be easy to get something that would hold well and look right??

Thanks everyone, progress has been slow mainly due to work. I'm working 7 days at the minute and have been for a while(excuses, excuses  )

Anyway, here's a small update -and I mean small-.

I was mucking about with the coolant piping for a while trying to plumb the heaters back in but in the end I've had to bin them, there's just not enough room as the TIP sits right where the heater matrix hoses pass through. I did have them fitted but all the hoses were rubbing on the engine block, as you can see in the pic below.

I've also had isssues with the engine loom, I can't seem to find a good way to route everything, I just end up with big loops in places no matter which way I fit them, I also have a few wires -which are mainly alarm wires I think- which I have no clue where they go. The car is getting sen't away at the end of the month to have this sorted out, it will come home with the wiring finished which I'm pleased about

Here's a pic of how the bay looks at the minute, apart from the wiring and the boost piping, it's just about done. I am getting some custom boost pipes made which will be one piece stainless jobbies, meaning no silicone elbows etc going to have relocate the battery to the boot as the boost pipes run where the battery normally sits.

I started fitting the doors at the start of this week. The first job was to core cut a hole for the mirror, a job that the body shop was supposed to do before paint but he forgot. I was bricking it but it turned ok tbh.

Here's the door built up

Today I started on the N/S door but I can't find the window regulator anywhere, god knows where that has gone lol

Other jobs I have done are fitting the Girling 54 front calipers, also got some Black Diamond drilled and grooved disc to go with. I've also fitted the drive shafts. I'll get some pics next time the front wheels come off

Nice work buddy, how come u had to drill holes for the mirrors? Were they welded up for some reason?

And hats off for drilling with a holesaw on fresh paint, must have been nerve racking!!

Certainly was mate. I do a lot of hole sawing at work but not on fresh paint on my pride and joy lol
