and I'm a dubaholic.
I'm only joking! I've just bought a '79  S1 golf GLS. I had intended to swap the engine and box out my MK4 GT TDI.

I've had a few VAG cars in the past; a mk1 driver that was made to look like a campaign GTI, a mk1 Seat Ibiza, a mk2 8v, a mk2 Derby, a mk2 Seat Toledo, a mk4 GT TDI and now a '79 5 door GLS.

I have high hopes for the '79, I tell everyone I've bought the worlds most expensive dashboard as the dash is the main reason I bought the car

Haha yes you probably have bought the most expensive dashboard!! lol

Now it would be rude of you not to post up some pics of your GLS   What sort of condition is it in?

Not the best condition.
The biggest problem is the rear panel has been cut out. There's a fair bit of damage from this, though the boot floor and floor pans etc are solid, there's a small bit of rot on both inner wings in the lower front corners.
Sills are solid, though dented from being moved with a fork lift so I'll probably need to replace both sills.
And the front wings are absent as are the lights and bumpers.
It's a project though, and with effort and not a huge amount of money I will have a cool little car.

That should keep you busy Nice MK1 though once you're done
