long term car guy, short time mk1 owner, me and my brother have decided to start a project together and purchased a half finished project that requires a lot of finishing and have already learnt a lot from this forum so thanks already

It has already had the 1.8t conversion with the amk engine and the 02j gearbox but it has been lashed in. The engine is tilted back and sits lower on the gearbox mount. 
The drive shaft fell apart moving it on full lock dropping all of the ball bearings. The exhaust down pipe had been badly welded and completely snapped. 
We will need to lift the engine out and figure out what is going on with the mounts.we can only assume the way the engine sits has led to these 2 failures

And yes that is filler on the exhaust
