HELP PLEASE?!
I've just bought my first 89 Mk1 Cabriolet GTI. Needs a little work, but thats why i bought it, bit of a first time project with my Grease Monkey Grandad.
Does anyone know where the hell i can get a Haynes Manual for this model, or the equivalent? :dontknow:
I've looked everywhere. I dont really want an ebook, would prefer an actual hardback if possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I've tried both. nothing for cabrio's specifically. Would a manual for a hard top Gti be ok? I just want it to sort out the engine and any other bits and bobs.
Thanks for the replies anyway

Other than the obvious differences and without knowing the year of your car it's hard to say. Try Amazon they sometimes have some Bentley Guides there.

Its a 1989 G reg. I've tried all the normal avenues like halfords, Haynes website itself, amazon, ebay and a few others with no joy.
If i can just buy a Haynes manual for a Gti Hard top for the same year just to fix the engine and other mechanical faults with it, im happy. The hood itself is in really good condition.
Thanks again for the reply

elo fella welcome to the club, the best thing to do is get some pics up of ya car let people look at her if there anything not quite right people can tell you how it should be and if you take pics of any problem area's or things that ya not sure how to fix or how it should be post pics of them too, peoples knowledge and expereince is a good substitute for a haynes manual on here and people will talk you thro things step by step to fixing them or the best methods

do you not have a camera phone take them on thatand just connect your phone up to pc and down load them that way fella!
sounds like you need a fuel filler neck replacement never done one my self but seen some post on here of people doing them, from what i gather tho if your going to replace it its well worth taking your fuel tank off to at the same time and cleaning all the crape out of the tank, a good person to speak to would be funk-star his got excellent knowledge on how things should be and how to do them and he can prob get you the parts at very fair prices he does postage too

Thanks for that, I've just ordered myself a new filler neck for the tin top from GSF in Swansea, im going to follow the post that someone left on the technical section on the left.
Just a question to anyone that knows.
I have an 89 Golf Mk1 GTI 1.8 8v engine. I know it runs on a BOSCH system. But im seriously struggling with this Manual. I think i've worked it out though.
Because the MK2 came out in 84, does it mean that although my body is still a MK1, the actual GTI engine is from a MK2. If so, surely that means i need a MK2 Gti Manual, and it should cover any repairs i need to do mechanically to the engine on my car?!?
If anyone has any idea's i'd greatly appreciate some feedback.
PS Thanks to everyone for the last posts feedback, it helped me get to this point. :dontknow:

Not sure to be honest. I know the engine number if thats any good. I think im sorted now. Spoke to a lad who works in GSF in Swansea and he said they are the same, just a few bits are different, like the Fuel filter and one or two other parts. Im sorted now.
Thanks Guys. Really appreciate all the help and advice.
Just in case anyone can tell me what the DX number is, my engine number is - 026103373AA
